blasting granite signs

Postby Scott » Fri Jul 19, 2013 1:38 am

We are new to sandblasting and have made some beautiful address signs and glass etchings, but.... When it comes to blasting granite or river stones, we cannot etch them deep enough. We are using 80 grit aluminum oxide at 80 psi. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can solve this problem? Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you,

You can use a larger size of media such as 40 Mesh Aluminum Oxide Grit to get a deeper etch followed by a second blast (if needed) with the 80 Mesh or finer grit to get a 'smoother' finish.
